The establishment of Joyce Insurance Group in 1955 was hardly recognized as significant. Actually, except for those who knew the determination of Joseph J. Joyce Sr, very few people anticipated what an incredible success his small office in Luzerne County would turn out to be.
Mr. Joyce's goal was to build partnerships with his clients. He learned their business and individualized their policies to suit their needs. Mr. Joyce worked hard to bring Joyce Insurance Group where it is today, maintaining his modesty throughout its many mergers and acquisitions. When asked how he grew his business so successfully, he would always say, "The harder I work, the luckier I get!"

Miles for Michael
The Miles for Michael 501(c)(3) non-profit, assists families battling cancer with travel-related expenses. Miles for Michael was a way for family and friends to honor Michael Joyce. Throughout his 14-month battle, with head and neck cancer, Michael never asked anything for himself, but asked his friends to provide support to other families who might not be as capable of handling the financial burdens of long-distance treatments. Addressing the needs of cancer patients and their families, this fund provides support for unexpected expenses such as: travel, lodging, food, gas, and tolls. It helps local families remain with their loved ones during treatment and recovery.

We actively support the American Cancer Society, Luzerne Foundation (Miles for Michael), CYC, Pittston YMCA, St. Vincent DePaul's Soup Kitchen, Scranton Prep, St. Joseph's Children Center, St Jude's, and Catholic Social Services.
